It didn't take long for a White House spokesperson to sneer at the hosts of ABC's popular "The View" after co-host Joy Behar needled Donald Trump as being jealous of former President Barack Obama.
During Wednesday's episode, Behar took on the Trump White House's after the president said on Tuesday, "This was treason. This was every word you could think of. They tried to steal the election. Irrefutable proof that Obama was sedatious (sic), that Obama led — was trying to lead a coup."
While the hosts had a good laugh at the president coining another new word, Behar offered, "First of all, who tried to overthrow the government on Jan. 6. Who was that again? That was not Obama."
She then added, "The thing about him is he's so jealous of Obama, because Obama is everything that he is not: Trim, smart, handsome, happily married, and can sing Al Green's song 'Let's Stay Together' better than Al Green. And Trump cannot stand it. It's driving him crazy," reported Entertainment Weekly.
That, in turn, led White House spokesperson Taylor Rogers to fire off an email to EW, claiming, "Joy Behar is an irrelevant loser suffering from a severe case of Trump Derangement Syndrome," before claiming that the show has "hit the lowest ratings" in recent years.
Rogers also complained that Behar "should self-reflect on her own jealousy of President Trump’s historic popularity before her show is the next to be pulled off air," the report notes.
Asked for a response, a spokesperson for the ABC show replied to EW, it is "up in total viewers and women 18-49, versus the comparable weeks last season, to its most-watched in four years," adding, "Season to date, The View is ranking No. 1 in households and total viewers among all network daytime talk shows and news programs for the fifth straight season."
