During an appearance on MSNBC, columnist Jennifer Rubin — a conservative until Donald Trump came along — pointed to the former president's latest "inanities" delivered in rally speeches and went so far as to call the presumptive GOP presidential nominee a "crackpot."
Speaking with host Ali Velshi, the opinion columnist was asked, "You just published a piece for the Washington Post this morning, titled 'Four ways Biden can make inroads with anti-Trump Republicans.' Talk to me about those."
"There are millions of Republicans out there who supported Nikki Haley and understood her message that Trump is a crackpot. He's dangerous and he is a crackpot, and we saw more into that this weekend when his speech was filled with these inanities and, really, mental and verbal pratfalls," she began.

"But nevertheless there are millions of Republicans, so how does [Joe] Biden appeal to them?," she continued. "And he doesn't have to become a Republican, he just has to stress issues which really has resonance with those people."
She later added, "I think Biden needs to be a bit tougher. Let's start calling Trump what he is which is an adjudicated rapist, an adjudicated liar. That was the result of the E. Jean Carroll verdicts, and I think the language has to get sharper. We have to remind voters, including progressives, just what Donald Trump is going on about."
