Trump son-in-law Kushner attempted to buy scandal-mongering National Enquirer: report

Well before his father-in-law officially began running for president, New York real estate developer Jared Kushner attempted to buy the National Enquirer -- a tabloid that has increasingly become allied with the troubled president of Donald Trump.

According to a report by Bloomberg, the husband of first daughter Ivanka Trump attempted to purchase the supermarket tabloid known for salacious -- and dubious -- stories about celebrities and alien encounters.

Bloomberg states that Kushner -- along with and his brother-in-law, Joe Meyer -- tried with Enquirer publisher David Pecker to purchase the tabloid’s owner, American Media Inc. The report states that the deal fell apart due to weak advertising sales.

Kushner notably purchased the New York Observer in 2006, which was recently rumored to be offered for sale to the same American Media.

The Enquirer jumped back into the news on on Friday after "Morning Joe" host Joe Scarborough accused Trump of attempting to blackmail him into apologize on-air to the president in exchange for getting the tabloid to spike a critical story.

According to Deadline Hollywood, Trump's threat was conveyed by Kushner who is friends with Scarborough.
