Asked for a reaction to the normally-divided Supreme Court coming down unanimously against the Donald Trump administration's decision to snatch immigrants off the street and deport them without due process, former U.S. Attorney Joyce Vance noted one justice issued a notable admonition.
Appearing on MSNBC's "Morning Joe," Vance was asked by co-host Joe Scarborough about the 9-0 ruling that instructed the Department of Justice to effectuate the return of 29-year-old Kilmar Armando Abrego Garcia from El Salvador after the DOJ admitted he was sent to a maximum security prison due to an "administrative error."
She started out by saying, "It would be a sad day in America if nine Supreme Court justices couldn't line up behind the proposition that before someone is deported from this country, they're entitled to this very minimal level of due process, a hearing in front of a judge to ensure that no mistakes are being made."

"That's really the biggest proposition that we get out of this Supreme Court order," she added. "No justice dissented from it but that's not always exactly the same thing as a 9-0 order."
"And we have this remarkable statement from the three liberal justices. it's authored by Justice [Sonia} Sotomayor and she makes an important point, Joe," she added. "I mean, I agree that it's a good thing that the court came forward with this statement confirming that due process applies even to people who are here without legal immigration status. But Justice Sotomayor says this. She says if the government moves fast, if it grabs someone off the streets and can get them out of the country before a lawyer can complain, then the government could be able to get away with it, given this process that the Trump administration is starting to use, and that's a real problem."
"So that's what gets hammered out," she continued before asking, "Before now, just how much room is the Supreme Court willing to give the government to act around the margins of the law?"
