'He was a bit nervous': Trump aide says ex-president was 'intimidated' by Carroll judge

America isn't Trumpistan.

Former White House press secretary Stephanie Grisham appearing on CNN's "Out Front" said she believes that her former boss and the 45th president was a small figure in Judge Lewis Kaplan's courtroom when he took the stand in the defamation case against him for disparaging E. Jean Carroll, a writer claiming he sexually assaulted her back in the 1990s.

"I think that actually, he was intimidated by the judge," Grisham said.

Grisham saw Kaplan ruling from the bench with an "iron fist," maintaining order at all costs.

It's a striking contrast to the carnival antics that former President Donald Trump and his counsel have appeared to be able to get away with a few blocks away in Manhattan Supreme Court where Judge Arthur Engoron is deliberating over the sum Trump may have to pay and whether he will face being blackballed from doing business in the Empire State for committing widespread fraud.

"I think he's been watching as the judge hasn't let his attorney Alina Habba get away with much, and he's been reprimanded about trying to speak for the jury to hear and he was a bit nervous honestly when he took the stand and didn't want to do anything that would get him thrown into jail, from all of the bluster you get from Donald Trump, I guarantee you he's terrified of that thought."

For his part Trump has come forward claiming he's the one being maligned and that he should be the one receiving restitution.

“I frankly am the one who suffered damages,” he said earlier this month. “I should be given money, given damages.”

Grisham also piqued interest when Trump walked way and three times could be heard blabbing, “This is not America.”

"I immediately thought to myself, 'No, this isn't your America' where you have no consequences for your actions,'" she said. "This is actually what America does, we have a judicial system that holds you to account when you do something wrong."
