'Rock bottom': GOP strategist says Trump may soon 'find out' he must debate Harris again

An aide to two former Republican House Speakers is warning that Donald Trump must have another debate.
Speaking to MSNBC on Friday, Brendan Buck said that Trump may not want to do another debate, "but he's probably going to find out that he has to."
Trump posted on his Truth Social account in all capital letters that there would not be a third debate. It's a dramatic shift from his previous claim in July: "Anywhere, anytime."

"You know, you only have so many opportunities to change the direction of the race, and he clearly did not do well," Buck continued, "and things are getting away from him."
Buck said that Trump could "lick his wounds right now," but that "if it is a month from now and polls show he's down, he'll have to get out there."
The former House aide said that it might be the "last thing" Trump could do "to try to save his race."
Sen. Elizabeth Warren's adviser, Maya Rupert, said that Vice President Kamala Harris can make no stronger case "other than that split screen comparison" in the debates.
Buck addressed far-right conspiracy theorist Laura Loomer being at Trump's side for the past several weeks, "I don't know there is, say, rock bottom anymore, but we're hovering pretty close to it."
He described Loomer as "the craziest person on the internet that you know," and noted that she is "now advising the Republican nominee for president. And it is no wonder that you have a campaign that is engaging daily in conspiracy theories."
