Trump's top White House aides 'hate' Rudy Giuliani 'with the intensity of 1,000 burning suns'

Two of the highest-ranking officials in Donald Trump's White House detest his lawyer Rudy Giuliani — but their relationship with the boss isn't excellent either.

According to Vanity Fair's resident White House whisperer Gabriel Sherman, Trump's chief of staff John Kelly and White House counsel Don McGahn can't stand the man formerly known as America's mayor.

"Kelly [has] been trying to get rid of Rudy for two months,” an outside adviser told the reporter. “And Don McGahn hates Rudy with [the] intensity of 1,000 burning suns.”

Trump himself has reportedly been grumbling about his lawyer's latest TV performances too.

“Trump thinks he’s saying too much,” a Republican close to the White House told Sherman, while another added that although the president "likes that Rudy is a fighter," he's learned that the fight comes with strings attached.

"He knows there’s a give and take," another person close to the White House told Vanity Fair. "The give is Rudy is going to fight for him. The take is that you’re going to get some crazy, too."

The president's not thrilled with either his chief of staff or his White House counsel, Sherman noted. Two sources told him that Trump finds McGahn to be "too cautious," and Kelly has frequently been speculated to be on his way out of the administration.

Although the president tweeted his congratulations at Kelly making a year at the White House yesterday, two sources told Vanity Fair that after making the announcement, Trump turned to his aides and said: "Now can I get rid of him?”
