Trump's White House trade backers 'turned out to be racist' or 'Wall Street' tycoons: AFL-CIO boss

During a breakfast roundtable hosted by the Christian Science Monitor, AFL-CIO president Richard Trumka blasted the White House manufacturing jobs council for having racist members.

"You had two factions in the White House," Trumka said, according to Politico. "You had one faction that actually had some of the policies that we would have supported on trade and infrastructure, but turned out to be racist."

"And on the other hand, you had people who weren't racist, but they were Wall Street," he noted.

Trumka left the council after Trump failed to denounce white supremacists and neo-Nazis who participated in the Charlottesville, Virginia violence. After people began to drop off, Trump dissolved the council entirely.
