'Trusted' Oregon youth pastor accused of secretly recording underage girls, trying to steal hard drives

A former youth pastor allegedly used hidden video cameras to make inappropriate video recordings of underage girls and an adult woman -- and then tried to steal church hard drives.

Police in Medford said this week that they had launched an investigation into 36-year-old Donald Courtney Biggs last November over "inappropriate texting" with a 14-year-old girl, who he had met while working at Mountain Church, The Oregonianreported.

The investigation determined that Biggs had made secret recordings of an adult woman who was changing clothes.

The church placed Biggs on administrative leave, and he later resigned.

And then on Jan. 12, the Medford Police Department responded after an alarm was triggered at the church. There was no indication that any property was missing at the time, but detectives later concluded that Biggs was behind the burglary after executing a search warrant on his home on Jan. 15.

They confirmed at that time that the recording of the adult woman was made at his home. Detectives said that they also found other unlawful recordings, including videos of underage girls.

Biggs was charged with invading privacy and burglary. He was being held in lieu of a bond greater than $1,000,000.

"Donald Biggs was a trusted employee that served at mtnchurch for several years and I am shocked and saddened with the information that has led to his arrest," Pastor Jim Wright said in a statement on Monday. "Because this is a criminal matter, I am not at liberty for further comment. I respect the investigation being conducted by the Medford Police Department that has been nothing less than professional."

Wright added that the Biggs' actions were "not representative of Mountain Church or Jesus' Church as a whole."
