UNC Charlotte gunman studied Sandy Hook before the attack: report

Trystan Terrell, 22 is the suspected gunman in a shooting that took place at UNC Charlotte on Tuesday.

In a confession to police, Terrell said that he researched the Sandy Hook Elementary School shooting that took place in 2012, according to WBTV. Police say the Terrell went to the shooting range to practice and had “at least 10 magazines" on him.

The report explains that Terrell took shooting classes before the attack and was carrying about 10 magazines. In his investigation, he confessed that he considered three locations in Charlotte for the mass shooting.

Two people died at the hands of Terrell and multiple were injured. He has been charged with "two counts of murder, four counts of attempted murder, four counts of assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill, possession of a firearm on educational property and discharging a firearm on educational property." the reports said.

UNC Charlotte Chancellor Philip Dubois said, “The entire UNC Charlotte community shares the shock and grief of this senseless, devastating act. This was an attack on all of Niner Nation,” Dubois added. “The days ahead will be some of the most challenging we have ever encountered. All I can say for certain is that we will get through them together.”
