Utah mayor puts fate of his amazing mustache in hands of the voters

Mayor Dan Snarr of Murray, Utah loves his perfect handlebar mustache, but his wife thinks it's gone too far and should be trimmed back.
"I'm a little bit different, a little bit strange. I admit it," Snarr says.
He told the Los Angeles Times that his love of handlebar mustaches goes back meny years, to when he served in the Green Berets. He had a small mustache when he was elected mayor in 1997 but shaved for a charity fundraising event in 2009. The current beauty goes back only 31 months, and now measures 18 inches long from tip to tip.
"I use Big Sexy Hair Spray to shape it," he explains, "and then I just coat it with superglue. I can ride a Harley and get the wind going 60 or 70 miles an hour and I get off and it’s in perfect shape. It springs right back. It took me about 100 bucks of hair product to perfect it."
Snarr's wife April, however, is tired of being poked by it and has threatened to cut it off while he's asleep. "I think it's in the freak state," she says.
So he put the question up to voters during the town's Fourth of July parade, dressing as Uncle Sam and carrying a poster saying "I Want You to Save My 'Stache." Video footage of thumbs up and thumbs down along the parade route suggests the result was too close to call, but Snarr insists the vote was 2 to 1 in favor of the 'stache.
“It’s who I really am," he says. "Nobody’s ever had a mustache this long in Utah political history. We’re having a lot of fun with it.”
"I want a recount!" April demands.
