Video captures Baltimore cop attacking Freddie Gray demonstrator for no reason

A Baltimore police officer was caught on camera rushing an unidentified protester on Wednesday and pushing him into a wall shortly amid concerns over possible confrontation between demonstrators and authorities.

The footage, which was originally aired by CBS News, shows the officer grabbing the demonstrator by the neck before pushing him into the wall. There is no indication that the man interacted with the officer before the encounter. Officers quickly crowd around the man and order the crowd around him to move back. The protester can be seen on the ground as other officers form a human wall around him.

The video was posted on Twitter by activist Deray McKesson, who wrote, "See, the officers in Baltimore will continue to provoke protestors tonight, as they want confrontation."

The incident took place after a mistrial was declared in the trial of Officer William Porter, one of the six officers tried in connection with the death of 25-year-old Freddie Gray this past April.

Mayor Stephanie Rawlings-Blake released a statement on Wednesday evening saying police were ready in case demonstrations became violent in the wake of the hung jury.
