Watch: An angry Brett Kavanaugh calls accusations against him a 'national disgrace'

On Thursday afternoon, Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh defended himself from allegations that he'd sexually assaulted Dr. Christine Blasey Ford. Kavanaugh's testimony followed hours of cross-examination of Dr. Blasey Ford.

As commentators quickly observed on Twitter, Kavanaugh seemed angry and defiant. He vociferously defended his innocence, claiming that he'd never been at the party where Blasey Ford says the assault took place. He demanded Senators speak with people close to him, including people he'd taught, dated and "had beers with." He called the proceedings a "national disgrace."

"I am an optimistic guy. I try to be on the sunrise side of the mountain. But today I have to say that I fear for the future."

"I've never sexually assaulted anyone. Not in high school, not in college," he insisted.

When Kavanaugh talked about his daughters—one of whom reportedly said she'd 'pray for the woman'—he broke down and started crying.
