WATCH: Asian-American hip-hop artist booted by JetBlue crew because attendant said she didn't 'feel safe'
Korean American hip-hop artist, Jin Gates, says he was kicked off a JetBlue flight because he is an “Asian with tattoos.”
Gates was flying to Minnesota for a concert, but had to cancel his performance since he was booted off the flight. According to the International Business Times, the altercation took place last month, but Gates posted on Instagram this week to apologize to his fans for missing the show.
“Minnesota I’m sorry not my fault. JetBlue doesn't like Asians with tattoos. We got kicked off the plane because the flight attendant said she didn't feel safe on the plane with us," Gates said on Instagram.
The video that Gates recorded shows him asking the flight attendant why he was being kicked off the plane, and no one could provide him with an answer.
“The main supervisor asked everyone around us if we did something wrong or if they heard me being disrespectful." Gates said. "All the passengers said I did nothing wrong!”
A JetBlue spokesperson told Fox News in a statement: "The decision to remove a customer from a flight is not taken lightly. In this instance, after the customer started a verbal altercation with our crew member, our team determined the situation risked escalation during flight. The team asked the customers to deplane and their fare was refunded."
