WATCH: Bernie Sanders hammers Trump’s budget pick for wanting to defund Planned Parenthood

Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-VT) on Tuesday grilled Rep. Mike Mulvaney (R-SC), President Trump's pick for director of the Office of Management and Budget, about his views on Planned Parenthood.

In particular, Sanders said it was hypocritical for Mulvaney to support defunding Planned Parenthood while at the same time crowing about his support for patients' power to choose their own health care providers.

"Some two-and-a-half million Americans, many of them low-income women, now get their health care through Planned Parenthood," Sanders said. "At a time when we have 28 million people today that have no health insurance, despite the gains of the Affordable Care Act, you really believe we should tell 2.5 million Americans... that they should no longer have access to Planned Parenthood?"

Mulvaney replied that he favored taking the money being sent to Planned Parenthood right now and sending it to "federally qualified health care clinics."

Sanders, however, wouldn't let him off the hook.

"After all the talk about choice, and we want a health care system that lets people go any place they want, your recommendation is we should deny 2.5 million women their choice of health care," Sanders said.
