Before Donald Trump hated Hillary Clinton, he loved her. He really loved her.

As Mother Jonesnotes, Trump once celebrated Clinton when she was First Lady, including a photo of her with his sons Don Jr. and Eric, which he included in his book The Art of the Comeback.

Trump was even saddened that the Clintons didn't consult with him when they began house hunting in New York in 1999. The Clinton's ultimately ended up in Chappaqua, New York, about 30 miles north of former President Clinton's office in Harlem.

"I just wish I could have maybe represented him in buying the house, and her," Trump told Larry King in an interview. "Because I think I could save them about $600,000 or $700,000."

At the time, Trump was thinking about running for president on the Reform Party ticket. But he made sure to tell King, "I like her very much."

Trump seemed disappointed when Clinton lost the 2008 Democratic primary to then-Senator Barack Obama. But the loss didn't quiet his support of her.

"I think she's going to go down, at a minimum, as a great senator," Trump explained to local cable station NY1. "I think she is a great wife to a president, and I think Bill Clinton was a great president."
