WATCH: Beto O'Rourke's counter Trump rally in El Paso, Texas

Beto O'Rourke is not about to let Donald Trump step into his backyard without a fact-check. The native Texan and El Paso resident will hold a rally this evening to run concurrent with Trump's rally, just a short distance away.

“The President, using the same racist, inflammatory rhetoric of years past, seeks to build a wall, to take kids from their parents, to deploy the United States Army on American soil, to continue mass deportations and to end the protection for Dreamers,” O’Rourke said via a Medium post in advance of Trump’s visit. “In other words, he seeks in one administration to repeat all the mistakes of the last half-century. And with past as prologue, we know exactly how that will end.”

“Monday we will welcome the president to one of the safest cities in the United States,” O’Rourke wrote. “Safe not because of walls, and not in spite of the fact that we are a city of immigrants. Safe because we are a city of immigrants and because we treat each other with dignity and respect.”

The ending rally featuring O'Rourke is actually the culmination of a march in El Paso, which is described further in a Facebook event post as: "A brief rally featuring area leaders and community voices including Congresswoman Veronica Escobar will begin at 5:30 p.m.; followed by a peaceful march and culminating in a celebration of community at Chalio Acosta Park on Shelter Place where Beto O'Rourke will address the community."
