WATCH: 'Orange is the New Black' star tells anti-gay preacher, 'You are the reason America's in trouble'

Orange is the New Black star Lea DeLaria confronted an unidentified man preaching to subway riders in New York City, in video posted by Gothamist on Tuesday.

"You're part of the reason America's in trouble," DeLaria tells the man. "Religious fanatics are the reason America's in trouble, sir: the Tea Party, ultra-creepy Christians and conservatives. You are the reason America's in trouble."

Gothamist reported that the video came from an anonymous source who said they saw the two arguing on the F train.

"A lot of people were standing around taking videos and photos and watching," the source stated. "I think people weren't sure whether it was real or staged. But a friend later confirmed that she has seen this same man preaching similar things on the subway before, so I'm pretty sure it was real."

The man can be seen telling the other passengers that "Sodom and Gomorrah didn't get away" and saying that the U.S. is not going to "get away" with homosexuality. He also warns the passengers to them to "read your Bible."

At one point, DeLaria -- who plays inmate Carrie "Big Boo" Black on OITNB -- accuses the man of using a homophobic slur against her. She responds by telling the man she is going to keep interrupting his "sermon" while he is on the train.

"Read your Bible and you'll see that this man is not doing anything that Jesus asked," she tells the passengers.
