WATCH: Ruth Bader Ginsburg says Kaepernick's national anthem protest is 'dumb and disrespectful'

If you were expecting Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg to deliver a stirring defense of Colin Kaepernick's protest against police violence, you're in for a rude awakening.

In an interview with Katie Couric on Yahoo News this week, Ginsburg said that while she recognized Kaepernick's right to kneel down during the national anthem at games, she said she didn't approve of the way he's chosen to protest.

"I think it's dumb and disrespectful," she said of Kaepernick's protest. "I have the same answer if you ask me about flag burning. I think it's a terrible thing to do."

Couric then asked Ginsburg if players should face some kind of punishment for their actions of not showing respect for the national anthem.

"If they want to be stupid, there's no law that should prevent them," she said. "If they want to be arrogant, there's no law that prevents them from that. What I would do is strongly take issue with the point of view that they are expressing when they do that."
