GOP presidential candidate Donald Trump battled with CNN host Chris Cuomo over whether or not the media treats him fairly, with Cuomo growing more visibly frustrated with his guest as Trump laid into Cuomo's colleague.
New Day host Cuomo insisted that Trump doesn't have a "good case that the media is mean to you" as he defended co-worker Sara Murray and told Trump he does get treated fairly, but simply doesn't like the reporting.
Trump said he felt that Murray wasn't accurately reflecting the "thousands" of people he attracts who are "going crazy" and "love we're gonna 'make America great again,'" echoing his campaign slogan.
"I don't know if she's incompetent, or she doesn't like me, or maybe she's given instructions from up above," Trump said about Murray, saying that he "think's she's terrible."
"Oh, please," an exasperated Cuomo said. "Listen, you know she's not getting instructions, you know you're getting the most attention."
When Trump suggested CNN has an agenda against him, Cuomo said, "Listen, her agenda is truth just like the rest of us, and when you don't like it, you attack us. And it works with your supporters, I get it."
He also expressed frustration that Trump goes to the "safe harbors" where he gets treated favorably and often skips over outlets like CNN.
They also discussed Trump's controversial invitation to host this week's episode of weekly sketch show Saturday Night Live, which someĀ have called on NBC to pull.
"You're never at war when you get great ratings with a network," Trump said, when Cuomo said he was surprised Trump was invited on.
