WATCH: Will Ferrell’s attempt to reach millennials before Election Day is 'the opposite of on-fleek'

This election isn't short of celebrities doing all they can to . After years of politicians largely ignoring young voters (with the exception of President Barack Obama), another election brings political parties scrambling to prove they can somehow understand the pain of a generation.

Now former "Saturday Night Live" superstar and viral video hero, Will Ferrell is adding his name to the list of celebrities pretending they're just like all of us and that's why we should listen to them and get out to the polls.

We must "put down our Snapchat, Tinder, Instagram, and other assorted app-based technologies for a minute so we can keep it 100,” Ferrell says, pretending that Millennials aren't already consuming absurd amounts of information about the election.

Perhaps, the most amusing part of the video is Ferrell in a "Nasty Woman" t-shirt. Instead of , highlighting the dangers of not voting or simply running this video over and over, Ferrell goes the "shaming" route. According to him, because voting records are public information, if you don’t vote, “everyone might find out that you’re the opposite of on-fleek, that you’re basic, or worse, that you have no chill.”

You might even run the risk of coming down with a “serious case of FOMO.”

Ferrell's case is simple: Vote, or be judged by your parents and friends. It's always nice to have a Hollywood millionaire celebrity judge you. At least in this latest Funny or Die video (below) they know how absurd these types of pleas are.

There is no evidence to support the idea that celebrity support can swing votes for a candidate. Their appearances are generally more about enhancing enthusiasm among existing supporters, helping to raise money and garner earned media through a "cool by association." They do help campaigns, just not the way people think. Or watch Beyonce do it the right way here.
