House Republican slams 'disturbing' pace of big MAGA probe

Rep. Wesley Hunt (R-TX) bashed the GOP on Monday for slow-walking a high-profile investigation that the MAGA base expects them to execute during President Donald Trump's second term.

During an interview on MAGA influencer Benny Johnson's eponymous podcast, Hunt said Republicans have not been focused on re-investigating the Jan. 6 insurrection and releasing new evidence and footage of the event. He said Republicans appear uninterested in fighting back against the narrative surrounding Jan. 6.

"We know there are a lot of inconsistencies about Jan. 6 that have been explained and are coming out," Hunt said. "The problem I have with this and that is, 'Why is this happening now?' and 'Why is this happening so late?'"

"Yes," host Benny Johnson said, nodding his head.

"Why haven't we uncovered and released this footage years ago?" Hunt continued. "Why did it take so long for Republicans, and I don't mean to point the finger at us, but this comes down on our backs, too, because at the end of the day, you have to understand that we have been in charge for months. We have held the House for the past three years. So, the fact that we are just now getting to this and we haven't been fighting back for the last few years is a bit disturbing to me as well."
