‘We’ve never seen anything like this’: GOP in panic as Dems spend ‘cash by the truckload’ on midterms

Republican leaders are in a panic as a surge in support for Democratic Party candidates is threatening the GOP's grip on Capitol Hill during the 2018 midterm elections, Politico reports.

In the 70 most contested House races, Republican candidates have reserved $60 million in TV ads since the end of July. Meanwhile, Democrats have reserved $109 million in the same races during that period.

Political analysts have predicted the midterms could see a "Blue Wave" as angry voters are energized to vote for Democrats. President Donald Trump believes there will be a "Red Wave" due to the size of his campaign rally crowds and what he hears from his unnamed friends on the left.

But Corry Bliss, the House GOP Super PAC's executive director reportedly warned of a "Green Wave" of spending against the GOP during a Thursday morning plea for cash.

The National Republican Congressional Committee (NRCC) has only reserved $46 million in TV ads, while $64 million has been reserved by their Democratic Party counterpart, the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee (DCCC).

The NRCC declined to divulge the size of the loan they will be taking out to pay for the final weeks of the campaign.

“As the Democrats’ financial position continues to improve, the greater their opportunities become,” explained former NRCC official Ken Spain. “Not only will they be able pump more money into winnable races, they can also expand the map by investing in races that were once on the periphery.”

Brian Walsh, the president of the pro-Trump Super PAC America First Action explained the shell-shock Republicans are experiencing.

“From Democrat candidates to outside groups, we’ve never seen anything like this before,” he noted. “They are dumping in cash by the truckload.”

Tuesday, November 6 is election day in the 2018 midterms.
