'Where’s that Bill Cosby pill?': Watch Chris Matthews prepare for an interview with Hillary Clinton by joking about rape

New York Magazine’s the Cut on Friday released footage from a January 5, 2016 interview setup that features MSNBC’s Chris Matthews joking about slipping then-candidate Hillary Clinton a “Bill Cosby pill.”

The shocking footage shows Matthews and his crew setting up for an interview with Clinton—an interview which the Cut notes featured the host repeatedly interrupting the Democratic candidate and at one point suggesting women should only be in the military “if they can physically handle it.”

“Can I have some of the queen’s waters?” Matthews asked his staffers. “Precious waters? Where’s that Bill Cosby pill I brought with me?”

In a statement to the Cut, Matthews apologized for his remarks and said the Cosby allegations were at the forefront of his mind.

“This was a terrible comment I made in poor taste during the height of the Bill Cosby headlines,” Matthews said. “I realize that’s no excuse. I deeply regret it and I’m sorry.”
