The White House appeared to take steps to help President Donald Trump hide his swollen ankles during a photo-op Monday afternoon with Ukraine's president, according to a new report.
The Daily Beast reported that the White House "conveniently placed Trump’s cherished Air Force One model in front of his enlarged lower limbs" during the meeting. Trump, 79, has received a lot of criticism for his swollen ankles after he criticized former President Joe Biden for being in poor health.
White House doctors have described Trump's condition as “chronic venous insufficiency,” which is common in people of Trump's age, the outlet reported.
Administration officials did not address whether they staged the photo to hide the president's ankles in a statement to The Daily Beast.
"President Trump’s unmatched stamina is evident by his ability to work around the clock to negotiate world peace," spokesperson Taylor Rogers told the outlet.
Trump's ankles have been an issue for his administration for a couple of months since Trump attended the FIFA Club World Cup final in July. At the time, the president was photographed with swollen ankles that appeared to be bursting out of his shoes.
The Daily Beast reported that Trump's swollen ankles were on "full display" during his meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin, which raised questions about the president's health.
