White House still might nominate Ivanka Trump as next UN ambassador: Bloomberg

The White House is still considering nominating Donald Trump's daughter to be the next U.S. ambassador to the United Nations, according to Bloomberg.

The president is considering Dina Powell of Goldman Sachs, ambassadors Kelly Craft and Richard Grenell, and former Republican Senate candidate John James for the position.

But if no clear frontrunner emerges, Bloomberg reported, top White House aides have discussed nominating Ivanka Trump, who currently is a senior advisor to the president.

Ivanka had sought to tap down previous reports that she was being considered as the next U.S. ambassador to the United Nations.

“I know that the President will nominate a formidable replacement for Ambassador Haley,” Ivanka tweeted in 2018. “That replacement will not be me.”

Just days later, however, her father tweeted about what a good ambassador she would be.

“So nice, everyone wants Ivanka Trump to be the new United Nations Ambassador. She would be incredible, but I can already hear the chants of Nepotism! We have great people that want the job,” President Trump tweeted.
