Woman in jail with Sandra Bland ‘positive’ she committed suicide

A woman who was being held in a Waller County Jail cell directly across from Sandra Bland claims that, although she couldn't really see anything, she is positive that the distraught Bland committed suicide.

Speaking with KTRK, Alexandria Pyle said she was already in jail over unpaid parking tickets when Bland was put in the cell across the aisle from her.

"She was crying, and I could barely understand her," recalled Pyle. "I was like, 'It's OK, don't cry. It can't rain all the time, it will be alright.'"

Pyle said that she was in a cell with two other women, while Bland was by herself in cell 95.

"She, uh showed me scratches, bruises on her wrist and stuff, but we were talking through something this big," said Pyle, while describing a small opening in the cell door with her hands. "So I really couldn't see anything."

Pyle described Bland as upset that she never heard from her friend LaVaughn Mosley, whom she had repeatedly called, to bail her out.

"She said, 'He's not answering, it's going straight to voicemail. I don't know why, I don't know why. He said he's going to be here in an hour, and it's days later,'" Pyle said.

Despite her inability to see into Bland's cell, Pyle said she is positive that Bland committed suicide and that sheriff's deputies weren't involved.

"I don't think the guards did anything. I mean it's a tragedy either way, but I don't think the guards did anything," she said before being asked if she thought Bland committed suicide.

"I'm positive it was, but that's just me."
