'You guys are next': Black and Latino Democrats receive 'party-specific' threats after baseball shooting

According to BuzzFeed News, Democratic members of Congress have experienced an "uptick" in death threats following this morning's shooting at an Alexandria, Virginia baseball field where GOP congresspeople were targeted. The four confirmed members who received threats are all either racial or gender minorities.

Rep. Nanette Diaz Barragàn (D-CA) told BuzzFeed that she and her Democratic colleagues have received voicemails that say "you are next," referencing the reportedly partisan nature of the Alexandria shooter.

Rep. Al Green (D-TX), a black congressman who's received racially-motivated threats since he publicly announced plans to introduce legislation to impeach President Donald Trump, confirmed to BuzzFeed that he too had seen an uptick in "polarizing" and "party-specific" calls. House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) and Rep. Emanuel Cleaver (D-MO) also reportedly received threats.

According to Green, congresspeople of both parties discussed amongst each other the "intensity of ugly calls" they'd received after shooter James T. Hodgkinson opened fire on their colleagues in Alexandria.

"Some of the them were the kinds of threats that really tug at your heart," Green told BuzzFeed.
