A music analyst revealed on Sunday that a new song by one of America's most popular country artists has exposed the "cracks" in President Donald Trump's MAGA base.
Dominic Patten, executive politics editor for Deadline.com, discussed country star Zach Bryan's new song "Bad News," which talks about the impact of the Trump administration's immigration enforcement operations, on MSNBC's "Deadline White House: Weekend" with Nicole Wallace on Sunday.
Patten said MAGA responded with "great urgency" to the song because it directly attacked part of their political worldview. He added that the song also exposed the "cracks" in the MAGA base.
"When they say, 'Just stick todribbling' or hoops, or they'vesaid, 'Just stick to pink skies,' [referring to] his song about people gettingtogether and hanging out...thatusually means they're feeling apinch," Patten said.
"MAGA responded with great urgencyhere because they live in aworld that's essentially anongoing pageant or reality TVshow," he continued. "They know the power ofimagery, just like the Reagans did back in the day."
"So I think in that sense, they're fully aware that thisis where the cracks can come," he added. "Look, all I know is in America, there's a long history ofpeople wearing masks, butthey also wear white hoodsto go with them. So you makethe connections."
