'Zero tolerance for black people': Singer Tamar Braxton says bar banned her for looking 'gangsta'

Singer and reality TV star Tamar Braxton said this week that she was banned from JR's Bar and Grill in Dallas because she did not meet the establishment's "racist" dress code.

Fox 4 News reported that Braxton shared her outrage in an Instagram video that was published while she was standing outside the bar.

“They said zero tolerance for black people,” she claims in the video. Braxton said that the bar turned her away for "looking like a gangsta."

According to Fox 4 News, the dress code states no "sweat towels, no backpacks, pants are to be worn around the waist, no sunglasses worn inside, give respect, get respect" and "zero tolerance policy.”

In a statement, JR's Bar and Grill insisted that the dress code exists for safety reasons.

"We were simply following our published procedures," the statement said. "It would have been a beautiful experience and honor to add Tamar Braxton to the long list of celebrities who have enjoyed JR's as a safe and inclusive entertainment venue. We are deeply saddened that she didn't experience the love that awaited her inside."
