Bannon is undaunted by federal indictment — and is plotting to 'take over all the elections': conservative

On Monday, writing for The Bulwark, conservative analyst Charlie Sykes warned that former Trump adviser Steve Bannon is unrepentant over his indictment — and has more planned.

"The latest indictment hasn't slowed him down," wrote Sykes, quoting Bannon from his new podcast: "We're taking action and that action is we're taking over school boards, we're taking over the Republican Party through the precinct committee strategy. We're taking over all the elections ... And they know it, and that's all it is — getting all these, you know, anti-democratic — no, they're there to have a free and fair count. And we're going to continue that and we're going to get to the bottom of three November and we're going to decertify the electors. OK? And you're going to have a constitutional crisis."

As Sykes noted, just a couple weeks before the indictment — but after the DOJ began investigating him — Bannon appeared at the launch of a new group called the Association of Republican Presidential Appointees, which is designed "to optimize their ... ability to advance public policy goals."

Bannon was indicted on two counts of contempt of Congress following his abject refusal to provide any testimony or documents to the House committee investigating the January 6 Capitol attack. Prior to the attack, he appeared to have some knowledge of what was coming, telling listeners of his show that "all hell is going to break loose" when Congress counts the electors.

He is expected to surrender to federal authorities later today and be arraigned.
