Here are 10 times Trump got slapped in the face by his own tweets in 2018

President Donald Trump continued to practice the service of statecraft by way of Twitter Wednesday, posting about his meeting with Chinese officials. "Very strong signals being sent by China once they returned home from their long trip, including stops, from Argentina. Not to sound naive or anything, but I believe President Xi meant every word of what he said at our long and hopefully historic meeting. ALL subjects discussed!" the president excitedly proclaimed.

"We are either going to have a REAL DEAL with China, or no deal at all - at which point we will be charging major Tariffs against Chinese product being shipped into the United States. Ultimately, I believe, we will be making a deal - either now or into the future...." he added.

This morning, he took on the global price of oil. "Hopefully OPEC will be keeping oil flows as is, not restricted. The World does not want to see, or need, higher oil prices!"

The president's use of Twitter to conduct official business is unprecedented. It's also self-destructive, a permanent public record of misconduct that might backfire on him given the developments of 2018, from revelations that Ivanka Trump used a private email to conduct state business to the Mueller probe.

Adam Schiff (D-CA), the top Democrat on the House Intelligence Committee, claimed this week that tweets praising Trump confidant Roger Stone for refusing to cooperate with Special Counsel Robert Mueller's investigation are an obstruction of justice, the Washington Post reported. Sen. Mark R. Warner (D-VA) said the tweets amounted to witness tampering.

It's not the first time the President has gotten in trouble with his overly zealous use of Twitter. Here's a series of unfortunate tweets by the President that look pretty bad as his second year in office comes to a close.

1. On Tuesday, Republicans Lindsay Graham (R-NC) and Bob Corker (R-TN) denounced Mohammed bin Salman for his likely role in the murder of journalist Jamal Khashoggi. Yet the White House continues to maintain the line that US relations with Saudi Arabia are too important to compromise.  Trump has taken a harder line against the regime in the past.

"Tell Saudi Arabia and others that we want (demand!) free oil for the next ten years or we will not protect their private Boeing 747s.Pay up!" the President tweeted in 2014.

2. He also slammed President Barack Obama for bowing to the King of Saudi Arabia. Yet, Trump himself recently curtsied to bin Salman.

3. In November, it was revealed that Ivanka Trump used a private email to conduct state business. During the campaign, Donald Trump regularly riled his supporters with the call to lock Hillary Clinton up for using private email for government work. Here are a series of tweets that don't bode well for Ivanka. "Hillary's staff thought her email scandal might just blow over. Who would trust these people with national security?" he tweeted. Ivanka Trump's husband, Jared Kushner, has permanent security clearance to view top-secret material.

4. The tweets accusing Clinton of incompetence over her use of private email continued throughout 2016. "How can Hillary run the economy when she can't even send emails without putting entire nation at risk?" Trump asked. "Hillary was involved in the e-mail scandal because she is the only one with judgement so bad that such a thing could have happened!" he said in another.

5. "One of the reasons Hillary hid her emails was so the public wouldn't see how she got rich- selling out America," the president contended. Yet, there have been many questions raised about the links between Ivanka Trump's private business and her role in the White House.

Then, there are the countless tweets that compromise the president in regards to Mueller's investigation into Russian interference in the 2016 election——and any collusion by the Trump campaign, as well as subsequent obstruction of justice by the president and his confidants.

6. "James Comey better hope that there are no "tapes" of our conversations before he starts leaking to the press!" he said, of then FBI director Comey.

7. "...people not interviewed, including Clinton herself. Comey stated under oath that he didn't do this-obviously a fix? Where is Justice Dept?" he said.

8. Trump reveled in the firing of FBI director Andrew McCabe, calling it a great day for democracy.

9. Before firing his embattled Attorney General Jeff Sessions—and replacing Sessions with Matthew Whitaker, who critics say is unqualified and has shown antipathy towards the Mueller probe—President Trump regularly criticized Sessions on Twitter. "Attorney General Jeff Sessions has taken a VERY weak position on Hillary Clinton crimes (where are E-mails & DNC server) & Intel leakers!" he wrote in 2017.

10. And finally, the president's musings on impeachment. "Are you allowed to impeach a president for gross incompetence?" he posted in 2014.
