17-year-old student killed in 'accidental' shooting at Alabama high school

One student is dead and two other are injured after a shooting at a Birmingham, Alabama high school police categorized as "accidental" on Wednesday.

The Washington Post reported that police issued a statement saying the shooting happened during dismissal at Huffman High School. One 17-year-old student died as a result of the shooting, which took place exactly three weeks after the mass shooting in Parkland, Florida claimed 17 lives.

Though the student's name has not been released, Beth Shelburne of Birmingham's WBRC news station tweeted a photo of her, saying she'd been accepted to college and was a month away from her 18th's birthday.
