25 House Dems say Jared Kushner must be fired: 'Impossible to have faith' that he won't enrich himself

The multiple reported conflicts of interest surrounding Trump son-in-law Jared Kushner have spurred 25 House Democrats to write a letter urging White House chief of staff John Kelly to fire him.

In a letter sent on Wednesday, the Democrats cited a Washington Post report about foreign countries working to cultivate Kushner as an asset, as well as the unprecedented number of foreign contacts he initially omitted from his security clearance application.

The Democrats then detail the major conflicts of interest posed by Kushner's family business, a global real estate empire that has reportedly lobbied foreign governments to invest in its troubled property at 666 Fifth Avenue in New York.

"He holds debts which run into the tens of millions of dollars, debts he held while his business sought money from Qatar and China," they write. "As you know, Kushner's portfolio includes the Middle East and China."

At the end of the letter, the Democrats say that Americans have no way of knowing Kushner's true motivations for anything he does -- and thus cannot be kept on as a top presidential adviser.

"It is impossible for the American people or their elected Representatives to have faith that Jared Kushner will put their interests above his own personal and financial interests," they write.
