'A ludicrous stunt': Bill Kristol rips Trumps for a hoax press briefing

On Thursday, White House Press Secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders announced a surprise press briefing, that turned out to be a hoax.

During the briefing, Trump made a surprise appearance and ranted about the border wall and border security, inviting a few border control agents to agree with him and then leaving without answering any questions.

After the fake briefing ended, CNN host Brianna Keilar's panel ripped Trump for being selfish in the midst of a historic day. The 116th Congress was sworn in and praised for being the most diverse Congress yet.

Conservative pundit Bill Kristol said that Trump could not stand not being the center of attention for a day.

"To be clear, this is a stunt. This isn't a briefing," Keilar said.

"Donald Trump couldn't stand that Nancy Pelosi was the center of attention today," Kristol said. "He can't stand the fact any other human could get his spotlight, so he had to butt in at 4:30 in the afternoon."

He added, "It's pretty disgraceful, [he had to do] a ludicrous stunt with some union officials who endorsed him."
