Acting AG Whitaker trashed Trump's behavior as 'outlandish' -- and said he should release his tax returns: report

The man Donald Trump appointed as acting attorney general has in the past criticized the president as "unlikable," "outlandish" and even "dangerous."

In an analysis of public comments made by Acting AG Matthew Whitaker, the Washington Post found that the former conservative commentator made somewhat disparaging remarks about his future boss numerous times.

Whitaker once said he thought the president's firing of former FBI Director James Comey was "self-serving" and in 2016 said then-candidate Trump and Hillary Clinton were both "unlikable."

“Sometimes I wonder if anybody has the president’s ear or if he just kind of watches news accounts and responds to, which is a little dangerous,” he reportedly said in a June 2017 radio appearance.

Whitaker also expressed skepticism about Trump's claim that former President Barack Obama ordered the surveillance of Trump Tower in a 2017 radio interview.

“I don’t know if it was to throw everybody off the trail or what," he said. "But it was a little outlandish, to say the least."

He also advocated for Trump to release his tax returns, the report noted.
