Alan Dershowitz blasts ‘bigot’ Noam Chomsky for saying Israeli lobbying is worse than Russian meddling

Trump-defending attorney Alan Dershowitz is not happy with iconic left-wing linguist Noam Chomsky over his recent remarks comparing Russian interference in the 2016 presidential election to lobbying done on behalf of the Israeli government.

In a column published at the Gatestone Institute, Dershowitz takes Chomsky to task for downplaying Russia's role in interfering in American elections, even as he claims that the Israeli government's influence operations are far more powerful.

Dershowitz defended the Israeli government's efforts to influence American policymakers by noting that they're using resources to lobby them out in the open -- a practice that he called as "American as apple pie."

Russia, in contrast, employed "secret agents working surreptitiously on behalf of Vladimir Putin's Russia to commit numerous crimes, for which several of its agents have been indicted, in an effort to influence American elections without transparency or public accountability," Dershowitz writes.

In his conclusion, Dershowitz says only "bigotry" can explain Chomsky's claims.

Even though Dershowitz takes Chomsky to task for downplaying Russian interference in the 2016 election, he himself has been one of President Donald Trump's staunchest defenders when it comes to questions of whether his campaign colluded with Russian officials -- despite the fact that Trump openly called on Russia to release emails that it stole from Clinton in July 2016.
