Alan Dershowitz whines his friends and even his family 'express horror' at his defense of Trump

Prominent lawyer Alan Dershowitz is complaining about the personal toll resulting from his outspoken defense of President Donald Trump.

During an interview with the Yahoo News podcast Skullduggery, the Harvard Law professor emeritus detailed the depth of contempt his former friends feel for him.

“I wish it was just angst,” Dershowitz noted. “Some of them express horror and real animosity sometimes.”

Not just friends, but even family members are shunning the outspoken lawyer.

“It has hurt me,” he said. “Only because some of my family members who used to take pride in people saying, ‘Oh, you’re related to Alan Dershowitz!’ — people now say to them, ’Oh, you’re related to Alan Dershowitz? Oh, my God! How can you justify what he’s been saying about Donald Trump?’”

Dershowitz has claimed special counselor Robert Mueller's investigation is a "witch hunt" and describes it as “the legal equivalent of a colonoscopy" in an upcoming book.

The discussion of the professor's advocacy for Trump has also been a topic of discussion on cable news.

“Alan, I don’t know what is going on with you, but this is so obviously a conflict-of-interest and this was the only way to resolve it,” CNN legal analyst Jeffrey Toobin said in March.

In December, Dershowitz likened the attacks on Mueller to a sports player working the referees in an athletic competition.

“I would play the refs, I would keep the pressure on Mueller,” Dershowitz told Fox News. “Mueller is very concerned about his reputation.”

“They have him where they want him,” Dershowitz said. “He’ll probably want to lean over backwards now to make any close calls in favor of Trump, so I think it would be now foolish to try to fire him, which would create a political scandal, probably move toward impeachment — although there’d be no justification for that.”
