Conspiracy theorist Alex Jones predicted that Democrats were plotting a military coup by expressing concern about strikes President Donald Trump has ordered against alleged drug boats near Venezuela.
During a Thursday broadcast, Jones insisted that the killings were "very moral" despite a history of opposing U.S. military actions.
Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth "didn't say kill them all," Jones said of the boat survivors.
"Hegseth is loyal, he's smart, he's doing a great job," he explained. "And that's why they're after him. And they need the military to stage their coup against America. It's their official plan."
"It's about preparing some big event, some false flag, to be blamed on Trump and the National Guard and the Border Patrol and all the rest of it," he continued. "And it is about when this big event comes, trying to sell the public and the blue states and everybody on turning against America, and of course the blue states will do it because they're globalist, and then using that illusion, and using that supposed gravitas or strength of, oh, look, see all these blue states seceded because Trump's a dictator, believing that that will somehow put enough pressure on the body politic of the military to stage a coup against Trump."
