Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez tells Trump Jr to 'get out' if he 'can't stand the heat': 'I will take you down a peg'

New progressive champion Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez spoke to Anderson Cooper during Sunday's "60 Minutes," and actually apologized if the president's son, Donald Trump Jr., was hurt by her insults.

"If he felt genuinely threatened by me, then I apologize," she said. "But I think that frankly, it's any legal advice that anyone would give him."

Ocasio-Cortez noted that Trump Jr. should probably not come on the attack against those in Congress because they now have subpoena power over him.

Cooper reminded her that most politicians don't apologize, but Ocasio-Cortez said she doesn't mind breaking all of the rules.

"On the other hand, if you can't take the heat, get out of the kitchen," she said of Trump Jr.'s whining.

"People know that if you're coming after me, you're opening yourself up," she continued. "People know that my style is sarcastic but honest and I take people at their word. And I will hold them accountable as well."

She said that she wasn't threatening consequences to anyone who comes after her, but admitted: "I will take you down a peg if you're not being fair."

She also said that Trump didn't invent racism but he's given a voice to it, and for that, he should be held responsible.
