MSNBC host Andrea Mitchell will step down from her daily show, she told viewers on Tuesday.
At the end of her show, the longtime reporter said that she would remain at NBC News as the chief foreign correspondent and chief Washington correspondent, but would focus more on "a broader role."
She will likely continue to be visible during major news events and provide analysis on "big political nights," MSNBC said.

The network noted that her show began in 2008 and has become the longest-running daytime program on the television platform.
"It became the blueprint for MSNBC’s future 'Reports' and dayside programming," it said.
She said the change would happen "sometime next year."
