Ann Romney announces she will now be Mitt's debate stand-in

At least one person has had enough of the Republican primary debates: Ann Romney. According to Buzzfeed, the former Massachusetts First Lady was addressing the crowd at a rally sponsored by the group Americans for Prosperity when she jokingly announced that she's had enough of the debates and won't let her husband participate in any more of them.

She also said that next time, she will be the one behind the podium. "If we're going to do another debate, he's going to just sit in the audience and watch me," she said.

As Buzzfeed notes, CNN had scheduled a pre-Super Tuesday debate in Georgia for March 1, but canceled after Romney and former Pennsylvania Senator Rick Santorum backed out due to "scheduling conflicts." The withdrawal of the other two candidates prompted Newt Gingrich to declare that Romney and Santorum are afraid to debate him.

Among the Republican candidates, Gingrich currently enjoys a sizable lead in Georgia, his home state, whereas Birmingham, Alabama alt weekly The Weld is reporting, "Santorum comes from behind in Alabama three-way."

Super Tuesday states vote on March 6 and include Georgia, Oklahoma, Alaska, Idaho, Massachusetts, North Dakota, Ohio, Tennessee, Vermont, Virginia and Oklahoma. Alabama, Hawaii and Mississippi vote one week later on Tuesday, March 13.
