'I'm not buying that': Proud Boy jailed after Jan. 6 tale fails to impress judge

A Florida member of the Proud Boys who threw a rock at the U.S. Capitol doors on Jan. 6, 2021, has been sentenced to five years in prison this Friday, HuffPost reported.

Anthony Sargent, 47, could be seen on video repeatedly throwing a rock at the doors and encouraging other rioters to breach the building. He also “physically separated a law enforcement officer” from a rioter and “prevented the officer from apprehending the rioter."

Sargent pleaded guilty earlier this year to a felony charge of civil disorder and six misdemeanor charges including engaging in physical violence in a restricted building and disorderly conduct, according to the Justice Department.

During his sentencing, he claimed that he was trying to help police officers when he threw the rock.

“To say he broke glass to get inside [the Capitol] to help people ... I’m not buying that story at all,” U.S. District Judge Dabney Friedrich said.
