'Trump wants a shake-up': Ex-spox says new hire signals aggressive campaign recalibration

A vocal critic and former spokesman of Donald Trump said Thursday the former president's surprising new hire signals aggressive action ahead to recalibrate his campaign.
Anthony Scaramucci, the former Trump administration communications director, appeared Thursday on CNN to draw a line from the Republican nominee's concerns about Vice President Kamala Harris' crowd sizes and the onboarding of Corey Lewandowski.
"Trump doesn't like the direction things are going in," Scaramucci posited to CNN anchor Boris Sanchez. "There's disarray in the campaign."
Lewandowski, brought on Thursday, was previously fired from a pro-Trump super PAC when a campaign donor levied sexual harassment accusations against him after a Las Vegas fundraiser, NBC reported at the time.

He joins Susie Wiles and Chris LaCivita, both of whom have faced calls to resign from the right with the hashtags #DumpLaCivita and #DumpWiles recently trending on Truth Social and white supremacist Nick Fuentes predicting a "catastrophic loss."
Lewandowski's return mirrors moves Trump made in his successful 2016 presidential campaign when the then-candidate lassoed in Kellyanne Conway and Steve Bannon, a former campaign adviser currently serving time in federal prison on contempt of Congress charges, Scaramucci argued.
"The race, you know, got a lot tighter and a lot more complex after they joined," Scaramucci said.
While Scaramucci praised Lewandowski's political prowess he raised concerns that Trump's campaign had more people in leadership roles than was good for it.
"They'll be fighting with each other coming into Labor Day," Scaramucci predicted. "Trump wants a shake-up, he doesn't like where things are."
But ultimately Scaramucci argued Trump was a fierce political opponent whom Harris and her campaign should not underestimate.
"We can't rule Mr. Trump out of this race," Scaramucci said. "He's a very aggressive, very formidable competitor, and he's recalibrating right now how he's going to approach the race from here to November."
