The Wall Street Journal’s conservative editorial board pounced on new Republican efforts to impeach judges who dare to issue rulings unfavorable to President Donald Trump – a move the group of editors boiled down to “an Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez-style stunt.”
In an opinion piece published Friday, the Journal’s editorial board went after Rep. Andy Ogles (R-TN) and Eli Crane (R-AZ) for filing several impeachment articles against federal judges who have recently blocked efforts by Trump and Elon Musk’s Department of Government Efficiency – what they referred to as “the right’s latest brain burp.”
“This is how the judiciary works, and the GOP ought to have the patience to let it, especially given that two-thirds of the justices with the final say are conservatives,” the board wrote about the Supreme Court’s conservative super majority, hand-picked by Trump.

“Republicans yelling for impeachments are joining the left in undermining the judiciary as an institution,” they continued, while reminding readers that the right is following in the footsteps of Ocasio-Cortez, who "filed articles last year to remove Justices Clarence Thomas and Samuel Alito.”
The Journal’s editorial board then used the opportunity to offer Republicans a lesson on the judiciary.
“What matters is getting the law correct, with appeal to the Supreme Court if necessary,” they wrote while walking readers through the path for impeaching judges “for severe misconduct but not on partisan lines over appealable disputes.”
“Articles of impeachment against judges who rule against Trump are a corrosive stunt,” the board concluded. They added: “This stuff might be good for AOC’s fundraising, but it’s corrosive to the republic.”
