'Find some 11,000 votes': Ari Fleischer blows up Fox News segment on Washington Post's Trump correction

Fox News contributor Ari Fleischer on Tuesday threw cold water on a Fox News segment that suggested former President Donald Trump had been exonerated by a Washington Post correction.

On Monday, the Post explained that it had updated a report about Trump's phone call with Georgia elections official Frances Watson after a recording surfaced that proved he did not use the precise phrase “find the fraud."

Fox News host Bill Hemmer reported on the correction but failed to disclose another call in which Trump asked Georgia Secretary of State Brad Raffensperger to "find 11,780 votes."

"Washington Post walking back a bombshell story from early January to admitting in a lengthy correction that it -- quote -- misquoted former President Trump," Hemmer said. "The newspaper saying a newly revealed audio of that call shows the former president never used those words."

Fleischer, who appeared as a guest, did Hemmer's job for him.

"The press is its own worst enemy and now they have more egg on their face," he argued. "At the same time, Bill, I do have to point out, there was another phone call that the president made one week later."

"This one was a December phone call to an investigator in Georgia," Fleischer continued. "A week later, the president called the secretary of state in Georgia and did say some things the president should not have said -- find some 11,000 votes."

He added: "So it's not fully exculpatory in the broader picture but it certainly is a blow up of the press narrative for that first call he made to that investigator."
