Election officials charged with trying to block 2020 vote count in Arizona

Two Arizona Republicans who sat on a county elections board have been indicted by a grand jury for "interference with an election officer and conspiracy," The Washington Post reported.

Cochise County supervisors Peggy Judd and Terry Thomas Crosby are accused of conspiring to delay the count of their county’s votes from the 2020 election.

They allegedly knowingly interfered with the secretary of state’s ability to finish the statewide canvass "by delaying a vote to formally accept their county’s votes during the time period required by state law," The Post's report stated.

The board eventually certified the results of the election, but only after a judge ordered them to do so.

“The repeated attempts to undermine our democracy are unacceptable,” Arizona Attorney General Kris Mayes (D) said in a statement announcing the indictments.
