Judge Arthur Engoron lost patience with Donald Trump’s prosecutors Friday as they questioned former tax lawyer Sheri Dillon during a second day of testimony.
Dillon, who worked with Trump between 2005 and 2020, testified Friday morning about development restrictions and ABC News reported that Engoron excused the witness from the stand to make a comment about the line of questioning.
“I feel we are two or three elements away from anything that is relevant,” Engoron said. “It seems to me this is becoming a game of gotcha.”
POLL: Should Trump be allowed to run for office?
State attorney Louis Solomon had been attempting to highlight restrictions the former president allegedly agreed to accept for two properties that seemed to contradict proposed conservation easements.
“Yes, it’s complicated," Dillon testified, saying the restrictions would not impact the conservation easements. "For the most part, it didn't matter."
