At least three students wounded in shooting at Ohio high school

At least three students were wounded on Monday after a shooting at a high school in southwest Ohio, and one suspect was in custody, according to officials and media reports.

Details were not immediately available, but the injuries suffered by three students at Madison Jr/Sr High School in Middletown were not life threatening, according to the school district's Facebook page.

Local media reported that four people were wounded.

The district did not indicate if there had been a shooting at the school, but local reports said two students were shot, two others wounded by shrapnel, and that an eighth grader had brought a gun to school.

Butler County sheriff's officials, who responded to the scene, did not immediately respond to a request for comment.

"All students are safe at this time," the district said on its website and on Facebook. Local schools were placed on lockdown and students were dismissed early.

Middletown, Ohio is located about 23 miles southwest of Dayton and 38 miles north of Cincinnati.
