Attorney Michael Avenatti just nailed Trump on the truth behind the man that threatened Stormy Daniels

In a Tuesday interview with CNN's Alisyn Camerota, Stormy Daniels' attorney Michael Avenatti walked through the logic that President Donald Trump's defense is profoundly flawed.

On April 18, the president tweeted a response to a composite sketch of the man that Daniels said threatened her in a gym parking lot.

"A sketch years later about a nonexistent man," Trump tweeted. "A total con job, playing the Fake News Media for Fools (but they know it)!"

That tweet might be the source of a defamation suit, but it also proves something sketchy is going on, according to Avenatti.

"What's interesting, Alisyn, is, if he didn't have anything to do with Stormy Daniels and he didn't know about anything that happened in 2011 or anything about the agreement, which is the nonsense they're trying to sell the American public, then how would he know whether there was a nonexistent man or not?" Avenatti asked.

He also noted that Trump doesn't have to say Daniels' name for it to be considered defamation.

"He doesn't have to mention her by name in order for it to constitute defamation under the law," Avenatti also said of their suit against Trump. "It's clear as who he was referring to. It was clear he was referring to the lease of the sketch and his claim that this was a nonexistent man."
